Confessions of a procrasinator

Ok, I admit it - I procrasinate. Whether it's the dishes, laundry, now schoolwork, the "it" task does not seem to matter. For years I told myself that I work better under pressure, so that was just my particular M.O. -
What a bunch of balony! Going back to school online has taught me that this trait is NOT to my benefit. Last Friday, I took my mom for a procedure at the hospital and while I handwrote my paper, I still had to type it, include citations, etc. and reply to 2 other students' posts, by midnight!
3 guesses as to when I hit send (and the first 2 don't count)...yup-just minutes before midnight.
I am learning though and hopefully I will turn this confession into a congrats when I turn in assignments early.  One day at a time and all that. Sounds good anyway.
Do you procrasinate? With what and do you know why? I know I am not alone out here in last minute land!

  2. I am guilty as well, but only when it comes to things that are not very important to me, because they can wait til tomorrow or another day (house keeping, laundry, yard work...)
However, I am on top of my game when it comes to my animals, family/friends and business.

  3. OMG! I am a huge procrasinator. I only developed this uhhhh..skill in the last year or two. Everything that has a deadline is now done at the last minute and I mean minute. My procrasination habits are getting on my nerves though. Getting a deadline done at the last minute is becoming too stressfull!

@ Ute: You work your tail off girl and you do have evrything together! Love ya!
@ Fossilhunter: Dawn, I know EXACTLY what you mean!! You try to avoid it, but then there you are again, rushing to get it all done and also done right, esp. w/ school!
Thanks to all of you for letting me know I am not the only one burdened with this "condition". haha

  5. Stef, as someone who has seen the light at the end of the online learning tunnel (and really REALLY hopes it's not a train) I know exactly what you're going through. Try starting stuff out the minute the instructor assigns it, and try to set aside, like, an hour each day--for responses, for postings, to sit down and slough through required readings (textbooks---fascinating---yeah---). Personally, I have found with working full-time, I can't handle more than 2 classes in one go--and lots of times, that is really pushing it. Just hang in there, breathe, and yes, every once in a while, hop on your bike and take a little trip just to get out of the house and out of your own head for a bit. I personally find walks do me a world o' good. Congrats on the classes and rock on!
